It's autumn: Trends and what not to miss this season

When the leaves are falling, it gets colder and you have to bring out those sweaters, you know it’s turning into autumn. To start here’s a little list I’m really looking forward to work off in autumn:
-drink hot chocolate and tea
-buy a pumpkin
-decorate my room new
-go to Starbucks and try out the Pumpkin Spiced Latte
-burn candles
-time for bubble baths (Christmas and Halloween range in Lush is out yey)
-long walks at the fields
-time for knitwear, scarves, coats…
-change the makeup routine and make it more autumnal
-time for dvd evenings
-time for cozy socks
-time to bake more
-time to read good books while cuddling up in a cozy plaid

I think in autumn it comes to that point where you have to change the makeup routine and leave those summery shades in their storage. I, for myself prefer darker shades in autumn, as the berry lip (who else doesn’t love a good berry, bold lip?). But on the other side I do like a great nude lipstick in autumn, both are very suitable. When it comes to berry lips, the Kate Moss range from Rimmel sells some pretty good ones, which are highly pigmented and long-lasting. Unluckily you can’t buy them in Germany, but Asos has a couple of them in stock. I really like the 107 lipstick in the red packaging, which is basically the most perfect dark red on this planet, so it fits perfectly in this season. An other Kate Moss Lipstick which is slightly more light is the 05 lipstick in the black packaging, it’s  a bright dark pink (I have to say I wear them in my free time not in school because they are very striking). If you don’t like colours which are screaming look at me then you might like the Revlon 050 Berry Smoothie, which is like a tinted lip balm on the lips. It has a nice gold shimmer in it and looks absolutely fantastic. These three products are unfortunately Uk goodies, so if you live in Germany like me I can also really recommend the 012 Sissi Lipstick from P2 (the P2 lipsticks are a good budget buy, very good and cheap). It’s a nice dark red lipstick with a purple undertone. But if you like nude lips like me for a natural everyday look, I would choose the Rival de Loop lipstick in the shade 24, a nice rosewood nude. Very natural and absolutely perfect.

For nails the same rules: It’s time to paint the nails in chocolate, red shades, Bordeaux (Essie In Stitches, Essie Bahama Mama and Sephora) or brown with a undertone of orange. Here are some of my seasonal favs:

For blush I put aside the peach ones and go for a rosewood blush, which is darker. But here the same thing as with lipsticks: I also prefer a tender rose shade.
additional faves: P2 Matte Deluxe Lipstick 020 I kiss you, Maybelline Color Show nail polish 265 Wine Shimmer

When it comes to Fashion, I would say that this season it’s all about the wool coats. I’ve seen many of them in the magazines and on the internet. Partly with a karo pattern or with leather details,in trenchcoat shape, long or short, everything is there. But also the longterm favourite, the parka, is in trend (I think parkas are basic, it will never be not trending). I will buy a wool coat next week, because they are classic and very cosy, when it’s cold outside (maybe I will show the coat in the long promised lookbook, I plan to do when I’m away in the upcoming holidays). I also like beanies in autumn/winter. One fashion item, I’m also interested in is the fedora hat. Also very classic and chic (but when it comes to hats I never know when I can wear them). For shoes I absolutely adore my Chelsea boots. They fit to everything and are perfect to slip in when you are in a rush. And for sure autumn means sweater weather time, so bring out your knitwear (I’m totally obsessed with cardigans, sweaters and ponchos). Poncho is also a keyword: unmissable since the Burberry Prorsum show at this year’s Fashion Week. Also very combineable with a basic black or blue jeans and boots. Also it’s time to wear scarves again, which are basically the perfect accessoire you can combine with everything. The bigger they are, more better. Overknee socks and wool socks should not be missing.
What not to miss in this season

And alright, the decoration is changing. In autumn, I prefer to embellish with pumpkins and chestnuts. Also I really love burning candles. My favourites are from Yankee Candle, like the Vanilla Cupcake one or all Christmas Candles, which smell more spicy. Table runners with leave pattern are also very nice to decorate the room.

Yep and there are some things I prefer to eat when the season is beginning to change. Nothing can beat a nice, delicious soup. The most I like pumpkin-potatoe soup but also potatoe-carrot soup. Very tasty and easy to make. Just eat some bread with it and you have a nice, warm meal for the cold days. And there is nothing to say against a hot chocolate in the evening when you are relaxing while watching TV. I prefer mine with a little bit of cream and marshmallows. And also tea is a great alternative, if you aren’t into hot chocolate (you know I’m an all season tea drinker so don’t wonder).

Something I do like in the autumn/winter time are hot bubble baths with the nice lush bath ballistics. I love when it comes to autumn and winter because they sell the cutest Christmas and Halloween bath things. I’m so obsessed with the smell of everything around Christmas. I think my favourites are Luxury Lush Pud and Candy Mountain (because it smells like cotton candy). I have to pick some new bath stuff up in the next weeks, let me know in the comments if you want a little (or maybe not so little) Lush haul J. After bathing I love to use a body cream and I think this season I will use the Chocolate Body Spray from Vaseline because it smells incredibly like chocolate cookies (but luckily not too intense).

I think this is the end of this post. Sorry for being so absent lately, but school and a cold are getting my attention at the moment (yep even if everything seems nice with autumn, autumn is also known for it’s cold time). I’ve planned to do an updated hair routine soon and for sure the lookbook for autumn/winter in form of a collaboration with my best friend Steffi. So stay tuned and I wish you all a wonderful autumnal weekend.
All the best,
Karina <3
